Municipal Court
The City of Needville Municipal Court is located inside city hall at 9022 Main Needville, Tx. 77461. Monday thru Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Phone 979-793-4253 Fax 979-793-6055.
 
Court is currently held every third Wednesday of the month at 4:00 PM, Judge Gary Janssen presiding. If you wish to speak with the judge, you must appear in court.
 
If you have any questions about your court date, you must contact the court by phone. It is Important to notify the court of contact information changes so we may keep our records up to date.

Court Payments
The City of Needville Municipal Court accepts payments in cash or money order. You may mail in payments to the court in the form of money orders made payable to City of Needville.

Requesting Driving Safety Course (DSC)
The Code of Criminal Procedure, Art 45.051(q) states—You may be able to require that this charge be dismissed by successfully completing a driving safety course or a motorcycle operator training course. You will lose that right if before your appearance date you do not provide the Court with notice of your request to take the course.
 
DSC Eligibility:
You are not eligible to take DSC if:

  • You hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • You have taken a Court ordered DSC for another ticket within one year from date of this citation.
  • You are charged with:
    • 95 miles per hour or more;
    • Speeding 25 miles per hour or more over the posted speed limit;
    • Committing a serious traffic violation;
    • Failing to stop and provide information or render aid after an accident;
    • Committing an offense in a construction zone when workers are present
  • You do not have a valid Texas Driver’s License.

    Items to bring to Court for a DSC request:

    Important:
    You Are Responsible For Finding Your Own Driving Safety Course Whether Online Or In Classroom Setting. Must Be State Certified.
     
    How do I know I have been approved to take DSC?
    The Court will notify you by mail and will outline the requirements/ deadlines. You will have ninety (90) days to complete the DSC and submit the following by mail or in person.
     
    What do I need to submit back to the Court?
    You will need to submit proof either in person or by mail that you have complied with all of the requirements and met the deadline outlined in the Court’s instructions. The items you must remit to the Court are as follows:
    • Certificate of Completion, you Must submit the original “Court Copy” and Must be Signed.
    If you fail to comply with any of the above-stated requirements, you will have a conviction on your driving record and you will be required to pay the fine amount. Failure to pay this fine amount will result in a warrant of arrest being issued.

    What if documents are not turned in timely?
    Defendants will be required to appear at a Show Cause Hearing  after the due date. A letter will be sent to the address on file.

    Deferred Disposition
    Deferred disposition is a process in which the judge requires the defendant to adhere to certain conditions. If a defendant successfully complies with the conditions, the case will be dismissed. You may request Deferred Disposition on or before your first court date in person.
     
    Courtroom Rules and Attire:
  • No smoking or use of tobacco products
  • No loud noises or talking
  • No weapons of any type
  • No cell phones
  • No unattended or unruly children
  • No food, beverages, or chewing gum
  • No approaching the judge’s bench unless directed to do so
  • No inappropriate attire
  • No hats, caps or bandanas
  • No recording devices of any kind
  •  
    Violations of any of the above may result in the defendant being removed from the courtroom and the case being reset.
